April Bond Update – Bond related construction projects information

Good morning SUSD Parents & Staff,

As we approach the end of the school year, some of our campuses are preparing to become construction zones over the summer, and we want to provide you with an update on bond and override activity across the district.

First, we have created a central hub for communications on all bond and override projects at bond.susd.org.

Currently available on the site:

 Early design images for Hopi & Cheyenne

 Links to all bond-related Governing Board documents and presentations

 A form for the public to submit comments, which will be reviewed and considered by site committees and district leadership

 A projected timeline for Governing Board approvals of contractors for each construction site

 site-specific updates, as needed

Construction projects need to be phased over time, and here is what is in the works right now:

At Hopi Elementary, a committee of parents, teachers, and community members is meeting weekly with architects and district leadership to provide input on the design of the new school. When those designs are finalized, there will be a community meeting to share the progress with the public.

Design work is also underway at Cheyenne, and a representative group of parents and teachers there got a very early sneak peek at schematics for their new gym, classroom building and other improvements. They will soon have an opportunity to review updated designs as well. Those updated designs are also available for the public to view on our web page.

This week, the Governing Board approved a general contractor for the Hopi rebuild and for all of the track and field projects at Saguaro, Chaparral, and Coronado High Schools.

Coming soon:

 School-specific override projects on bond.susd.org

 Contractor selection for Hohokam and Cheyenne

We are committed to transparency during this process, and we are thrilled to be building these new educational facilities for our amazing Scottsdale students.
