Remembering Dr. Hodgins

While we understand our community is likely to want to reach out to the Hodgins’ family at this point, we’d like to respect their request for privacy and give them their needed time. Instead of writing emails or making a call, please consider writing a note in our comment form below or sending a card in with your child to school. Comments will be shared with the family when appropriate and a box will be available in the office for card collections. Thank you!

You sensed a wise and kind heart available to help in any way in every interaction. Easy to talk to, he had a great sense of humor and an obvious love for his precious family. A good man.

Mrs. Hodgins, our hearts are broken for all of you, especially for your young daughters. May they always know that their dad was well liked and highly respected in his community and that he will be protecting, guiding and loving them now from above. He will continue to be there every step of the way.

Impossible to make sense of a great human being gone too soon…know that love lives on without boundaries. He didn’t have as long as he should have, but he used his time well and to the benefit of us all, especially our children.
    Peace to you.

    Dear Megan,
It is unimaginable to loose someone so young and full of life. His bright eyes and jubilant smile will forever burn as his memory. I can still see his gleam for Elise as he surprised her on her birthday last year. His love for you and your girls was visible for all to see. Our hearts and prayers are for you – May God sustain you and bring you comfort in this time. The Corder Family

I, too, am devastated by losing Gary. I loved working with him and will miss the discussions we had about education and life in general. Gary was a rare treasure.

No words can really express this huge loss to our community, but know we are with you and are so grateful to have had known him. He was on campus a couple weeks ago and it dawned on me then that it had been a while since I had seen him, yet still felt his powerful presence and positive energy everywhere. We still know that he is within our community… he is in each student that he taught, in each teacher he knew, in each parent he smiled at, and most importantly in your beautiful girls. May you find comfort and strength in the wonderful memories you shared and know that we are here for you always. God Bless!

    I give you this
    one thought to keep –
    I am with you still,
    I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle Autumn rain.

    When you awaken
    In the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circle flight.

    I am the soft stars
    That shine at night
Do not think of me as gone –
    I am with you still
    In each new dawn.

    – Native American Prayer

So sorry to hear about Dr. Hodgins. We never had him for a teacher, but all the people I know who did speak very highly of him; his funny desk dance for getting 100 on an AR test, a pie in the face for other high achieving acts by students. What a fun guy, gone way too soon! God bless your family.
